The article 12 Habits of Super-Healthy People on WebMD, which you can find here, highlights strategies that can have a powerful impact on overall health and wellness. I want to focus on one habit from that list: eating breakfast.
Even a light breakfast can help curb overeating later in the day. I believe this concept also applies to not skipping lunch or dinner. Being mindful of when you’re eating can influence how much you consume.
When I began my journey to better health, I made it a point to stop eating after 6 p.m. My reasoning was simple: I knew I wouldn’t be very active in the evening, so I wouldn’t be burning many calories before bedtime. This change was challenging at first, especially since I loved to stay up reading after my kids went to bed—and I often found myself reaching for ice cream or a sandwich (rarely an apple!).
However, I learned to stay focused on my goals. My motivation was to get as healthy as possible so I could be around to watch my kids grow up. By reminding myself of the bigger picture, I was able to make lasting changes that benefited my overall well-being.
We can work together to figure out how to incoporate changes that can become habits into your day that can help set you up for success!!
