This is an excellent topic to discuss! In today’s world, where we can have meals delivered to our workplace with just a few clicks, sticking to healthy eating habits can be a real challenge. While I’m not against eating out or ordering takeout, doing it consistently during the workweek can become problematic. Many restaurant meals are higher in calories, fat, and sodium, which can derail health and wellness goals. Plus, when we eat out, we don’t have control over the preparation, preservatives, or nutritional content of the food. By committing to bringing your own lunch even a few times a week, you can take charge of the nutrients and portions you consume.

In my 19 years of working, I can count on two hands the number of days I didn’t pack my own lunch. For me, it was about practicality and priorities. I didn’t want to spend extra money on eating out every day, and I valued the time it took to pack my meals each night. Knowing that my lunch choices supported my health goals meant I didn’t have to do extra workouts to offset unhealthy meals, freeing up more time to spend with my kids. For me, it was a win-win: healthier eating and more quality time.
